Product Introduction:

Poly anionic cellulose, abbreviated as PAC, is a water-soluble cellulose derivative obtained by chemical modification of natural cellulose. It is an important water-soluble cellulose, which is a white or slightly yellow powder, non-toxic and odorless. It can dissolve in water and has good heat stability, salt resistance, and strong antibacterial properties. The mud fluid formulated with this product has good water loss reduction, inhibition, and high temperature resistance. Widely used in oil drilling, especially saltwater wells and offshore oil drilling.
Polyanionic cellulose PAC products are divided into two categories: high viscosity (HV) and low viscosity (LV), and are high-tech products with independent intellectual property rights of our company. Belonging to anionic cellulose, it has the characteristics of high purity, high degree of substitution, and uniform distribution of substitution. It can be used as a thickener, rheological regulator, water loss agent, etc. High viscosity and low viscosity PAC have excellent filtration reducing effects in both freshwater and seawater mud, and are indispensable products in mud compatibility. The PAC produced by our company is a high-purity refined product with a white flowing powder appearance, and its aqueous solution is a transparent viscous liquid.

 

PAC, as a water-soluble polymer, has the following functions and properties:
(1) Quickly dissolve in cold or hot water;
(2) Can be used as a thickener, rheology controller, adhesive, stabilizer, protective colloid, suspension agent, and water retaining agent;
In the petroleum extraction industry, PAC is a good drilling mud treatment agent and material for preparing completion fluids, with high slurry production rate and good salt resistance. PAC is an excellent filtration loss reducing agent for freshwater mud, seawater mud, and rain saturated saltwater mud, and has good viscosity increasing ability and high temperature resistance (150 ºC). Suitable for preparing fresh water, seawater, and saturated saltwater completion fluids, and can be formulated into completion fluids of various densities under the weight of calcium chloride. It can also make the completion fluid have a certain viscosity and low filtration loss. Our company's high and low viscosity PAC products comply with GB/T 5005 standards, European OCMA standards, and API 13A standards.

Product Application:

(1) The application of PAC in drilling fluid.
PAC is ideal for use as an inhibitor and fluid loss agent. The mud fluid formulated with PAC can suppress the dispersion and expansion of clay and shale in high salt media, thereby controlling wellbore pollution.
(2) The application of PAC in well repair fluids.
The well repair fluid prepared with PAC is low solid phase, which will not block the permeability of the production layer due to solids and will not damage the production layer; And it has a low water loss, which reduces the amount of water entering the production layer, and the incoming water will form a water stagnation phenomenon due to emulsion blockage.
The well repair fluid formulated with PAC provides advantages that other well repair fluids do not have.
Protect the production layer from damage;
Capable of carrying clean wellbore and reducing maintenance workload;
Has the ability to resist water and sediment infiltration, and rarely foams;
Can be stored or reused between wells, with lower cost compared to general mud repair fluids.
(3) The application of PAC in fracturing fluid.
The fracturing fluid prepared with PAC can withstand 2% KCI solution (which must be added when preparing the fracturing fluid) and has good solubility. It is easy to use, can be prepared on site, and has fast gelation speed and strong sand carrying capacity. When used in low-permeability formations, its fracturing effect is more outstanding.

As a type of treatment agent used to adjust the performance of drilling and completion fluids, the main function of cellulose derivatives is to reduce filtration and increase viscosity.
It is generally believed that the mechanism of reducing filtration loss by polyanionic cellulose is mainly to improve the coalescence stability of the system by forming an adsorption solvation layer on the surface of drilling fluid clay particles; By providing protection to clay fine particles, it hinders the bonding and enlargement of clay fine particles; Reduce the permeability of the mud cake by increasing the viscosity of the filtrate and blocking the pores.
Polyanionic cellulose is easily dispersed in all water-based drilling fluids, suitable for drilling fluids from freshwater to saturated saltwater. In low solid and solid free drilling fluids, it can significantly reduce filtration loss and thin mud cake thickness, and has a strong inhibitory effect on shale hydration.


Compared with CMC produced by conventional processes, PAC has the following characteristics:
a. High degree of substitution, uniform substitution, high transparency, controllable viscosity and reduced water loss;
b. Any water-based mud suitable for freshwater, seawater, or saturated saltwater;
c. The mud formulated with this product has good characteristics of reducing water loss, workability, and high temperature resistance;
d. The mud prepared with this product has rheological properties,
e. Can suppress the dispersion and expansion of clay and shale in high salt media, thereby controlling wellbore pollution;
f. Stabilize soft soil structures to prevent wellbore collapse caused by rising water levels;
g. When drilling through the rock surface, slow down the accumulation of drilling solids in the mud;
h. Suppress turbulence in the drill pipe to minimize pressure loss in the reflux system;
i. Enable mud to increase slurry production and reduce filtration loss;
p. It can stabilize mud foam.
So, PAC is ideal as an inhibitor and fluid loss agent. The mud fluid prepared by PAC inhibits the dispersion and expansion of clay and shale in high salt media (monovalent salt), and controls wellbore pollution. In addition, the use of PAC to prepare mud repair fluid is low solid phase, which does not hinder the permeability of the production layer due to solids, that is, does not damage the production layer; And the amount of filtered water is small, which means the ability to resist water loss is strong, and the amount of water entering the production layer is small, which can avoid the formation of water stagnation caused by emulsion blockage.
